Portland Children's Levy
Portland Children’s Levy is a multi-million dollar initiative to support the development of kids in the metro area. The objective was to create a single page web design featuring compelling infographics for the purpose of public annual reporting.
Page Structure
Given the single-page structure of the report, placing the navigation elements in a sidebar was done to reinforce vertical movement through the site. Useful features such as the ability to translate the page into another language, share the report via social media links, and even download the report are always available to the user regardless of their position on the page.
Infographics

Previously, the key data about the distribution of funds was communicated in table form. We aimed to do better by visualizing how the levy's money was being spent using an animated pie chart. Spot illustrations reinforce the content categories, while strong typographic styling ensures relevant information is seen in the ideal order. Additional spot illustrations were created to highlight key data points such as geographic distribution and food handed to needy kids.
Styling
The focus of the Portland Children's Levy is in the name: it's about the kids. We leaned into this when styling the page, opting for bold, saturated color combinations that provide energy, clarity, and structure. San serif, well-scaled type ensures legibility and style. Partner stories and sidebars quotes offers interesting diversion s to keep users engaged.
