When Burger King wanted to boost engagement with digital promotions, we customized Global Payment's white label native mobile app with in-app messaging and a digital wallet. As product design manager, my job was to lead the design work, coordinating two designers who reported directly to me.
Research
Burger King wanted to boost engagement and sales with in-app promotional messages encouraging pick-up orders. While discounts and promotional offers were features available in Global Payment's white label app, the ability to send messages to users was not. My role at this stage was overseeing our user experience researcher who documented competing apps with in-app promotional messaging and virtual wallet functionality.

Deliverables
One of the unique challenges was ensuring the visual design of Global Bytes can be easily modified to reflect other brands. This was not purely an exercise in visual customization—alias hierarchies were developed for all components including color, typography, button styles, and even iconography. The aliases determine how to apply brand elements to Global Bytes, whilst providing options to tailor the user experience flow and interface to best reflect their brand. Burger King Puerto Rico, the largest food service business on the island, uses Global Bytes for more than 150 locations.
